By now you’ve probably heard of, and likely even received free meal promotions from a variety of food delivery services. So, if you’re looking to get fresh veggies delivered to your door each week, why should you choose Good Apple?
What makes a Good Apple Box special?March 9, 2021
Hand curated: Each week, the team at Good Apple works with its farmers to choose a unique selection of local, organic, in-season produce to deliver your door. So, rather than just buying the same things you would get at the store, you have the chance to experience what's really growing in Austin. We'll even help you get used to some of our more unique produce with our helpful recipe cards. If getting a surprise hand-picked box of Austin's freshest kale, collards, carrots, oranges, grapefruit, or persimmons sounds good to you, sign on up! Some other interesting produce choices you might consider are Kohlrabi, Fennel, Rutabaga, Mei Choy, Bok Choy, Mizuna. Or you can anticipate what will arrive at your door each week by checking our produce list.
Locally sourced: We’re based in Austin, and 75% of our produce comes from within 20 miles of the city. Even our farthest partner farms’ produce is within a three-hour drive of the city. Why does that matter to you? Well, in addition to supporting Austin-based small farms, produce that doesn’t have to travel as far maintains more of its nutrients and gets harvested at the peak of its ripeness for superior flavor. An added benefit of local produce? Fewer harmful carbon dioxide emissions from transportation, packaging, and refrigeration.
100% organically grown: You can be sure that all of your Good Apple produce comes free of synthetic chemical fertilizers, antibiotics, herbicides, or pesticides. Organic produce is not only good for your body, it’s also good for the planet. Organic farming methods promote biodiversity through crop rotation and earth-friendly pest control.
Your dollar goes further: For every Good Apple box you receive, we ship a box to a food insecure family in Austin, free of charge. We also partner with Central Texas Food Bank on our Stay Home, Stay Healthy program, which has delivered more than 495,000 meals to people at risk of severe COVID-19 infection. While some other food delivery services donate to food banks, we take it one step further by delivering produce and food staples right to the front doors of families in need. You also get to support small Austin farms, as we always pay fair prices to our farmers for their produce.
